Charge it fully before going wireless. Not partially. Not “just enough to test.” Fully.

You need two things on your device:

A free USB-A port (for wired use or charging)

And working Bluetooth (not just enabled (tested) with another device)

Your system handles the rest. Windows 10 or newer? It sees the controller and loads drivers before you finish reaching for your coffee.

You think it’s working? Don’t guess. Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices (on Windows).

Look for “HSS Gamepad.” See it there? Good. Click it.

Check the status. It says “Connected.” Done.

No reboot needed. No admin password. No “allow this device” prompts.

Some people overthink this. They go hunting for firmware updates before they even test the D-pad. Don’t be that person.

This method works. Every time. It’s boring.

It’s reliable. It’s what I use (and) what I tell my friends who just want to play.

If it fails? The cable’s bad. Or the port is dead.

Not the process. The process is bulletproof.

Wireless Freedom: Ditch the Cable, Not the Control

I plug in my controller when I need precision.

I go wireless when I want to sprawl on the couch with a bag of chips and forget I’m even using a PC.

This is Method 2: Bluetooth pairing for the HSS controller. It’s not magic. It’s just buttons and timing.

First. Make sure your controller is charged. And unplugged.

Seriously. That USB cable tricks the system into thinking it’s wired. Unplug it before you start.

Open Bluetooth settings on your device. PC? Settings > Bluetooth & devices.

Mac? System Settings > Bluetooth. Android or iOS?

Same place (just) tap Bluetooth.

Now (the) button combo. Press and hold the Sync button for exactly 3 seconds. Not 2.

Not 4. Three. The light will flash fast (like) it’s nervous.

That’s pairing mode. Your device should now see “HSS Game Controller” in the list. If it doesn’t, try again.

(I’ve done that twice. No shame.)

Tap it. Confirm. Wait.

The light goes from frantic blinking to solid green. That’s it. You’re connected.

No drivers. No extra software. Just Bluetooth.

And the fact that Windows and macOS handle this cleanly now. (Yes, even Windows. I was skeptical too.)

You’ll notice lag? Only if your Bluetooth stack is old or overloaded. Most modern laptops handle it fine.

Desktops? Add a $12 USB Bluetooth 5.0 adapter if yours is built-in junk.

One last thing:

If you run into pairing failures, reboot Bluetooth and the controller.

Don’t just click “forget device” and hope.

When Your HSS Gamepad Ghosts You

Controller Not Detected (Wired)

Try a different USB port. Not the one on your monitor. Plug it straight into the computer.

Restart your machine. Then check the cable. Is it fully seated?

Bluetooth Pairing Fails

Turn Bluetooth off. Wait three seconds. Turn it back on.

Move closer (like,) arm’s-length close. And shut down any other device trying to grab that controller. Phones love to hijack it mid-pair.

Input Lag or Disconnections

Check for firmware updates. Go to the official site. Don’t guess (download) the latest version.
